Welcome to the Davis Brothers official website

Website of the month: Kinks.it.rit.edu page 2 of 2

The Tour Dates page includes all dates pertaining to Dave and Ray Davies as well as gigs for the*Kast off Kinks (*A band of former Kinks) A nice little section is the What’s New page. Here you’ll find any new items that have been added to the website, such as photos, midi files (music), or excerpts from books, etc… If you ever wanted to know all the songs The Kinks recorded, visit to the Songs and Chords page. I believe all the Kinks songs are listed and in alphabetical order. Not only that, but each song’s chords and lyrics are here too. The Discography page is as extensive as the rest of the site, and is broken down into UK, US, and Scandinavian albums, singles and EP’s. There is also an advanced discography category which allows for a specific search criteria and is worth taking a look at. On the Collectables page are listed three categories for Books, Videos/DVDs, and Posters. Those three categories are broken down even further into sub-categories. It’s worth noting that this category break-down occurs throughout most of the website and it really helps in navigating. The Kinks Fans page also lists three categories; mailing list, fan clubs, and one called, “well respected fans”. Fans simply send in a photo of themselves and they’ll be added to the “illustrious bunch of misfits” as is described on the web site. What they’re actually being added to is a photo gallery of well respected Kinks fans. It’s a fan friendly idea and a lot of fun too. That brings us to what is possibly the most informative page on this website, the Resources Page. If one wanted to write a book about The Kinks, I don’t think more information could be found anywhere else than what is contained on this page. Items listed include published articles, reviews, interviews, images, video clips, midi files, The Kinks set lists and chart positions (throughout the years), artists that have covered Kinks’ songs, and other pages of various importances. There’s simply too much here to describe in this meager review, but I think you get the idea. Finally, if you want to see what other websites out there are connected to kinks.it.rit.edu/, then check out the Kinks Links for that. Who would have thought that a website which appears so simple and subtle could turn out to be a juggernaut of material and resources? I assume Mr. Dave Emlen is the webmaster and he operates a great website here. He has done The Kinks and their fans proud because just keeping a site of this magnitude up to date for 13 years is truly an accomplishment. I guess that old adage is true; never judge a book by it’s cover, or in this case a website.
