First of all, we are Kyley, Brock, Ryan and Justin, and we are
indeed brothers. We're a Georgia music group & happy to say
so. Except for Justin, we were all born & bread in the southern
peach state. We’d love to be able to credit ourselves for
the music we produce, but we have a talented family music tree
and extremely talented parents to thank for most of it. Dad and
mom, along with our uncle, formed the singing group “The
Davis Trio” and were singing in churches when we were very
young. Our parents’ families were also musically talented,
most notably “The Darnell Family” on our mom’s
side, the first gospel group signed to RCA Victor. Music was all
around us, all the time, and it just seemed as normal as turkey
on Thanksgiving Day. Our parents recognized very early that each
one of us (including the youngest, our sister Evie) was able to
sing and stay on key with little effort. When we were a little
older, our dad asked if we would like to sing harmonies together
and he began teaching us what we realized later were complex arrangements.
Our practice sessions were pretty short, because we were still
kids and we liked to go outside and play. After we had learned
enough songs to record an album, we went into the studio and recorded
an album of gospel songs, several of which were written by our
dad. Less than a year later, we recorded a country album, and
followed that effort a few years later with a third album of both
country and gospel offerings. During this time we regularly entered
local talent shows, traveled and performed in numerous churches,
sold out concerts, and had a lot of fun doing it.
When we reached high school age, we decided to cut back on our
live performances and didn't record any new material for a while.
We always knew we would make more music at some point, but school
and college became priority one, so the music took a temporary
back seat. This allowed us time to learn and grow individually
as musicians, singers and songwriters. We've always enjoyed great
singers like Andy Williams (the Williams Brothers) & Frank
Sinatra, but during our time away we began to hear new types of
music. Groups like the Four Freshmen, The Beatles, Brian Wilson
& the Beach Boys, and more, became wonderful influences. Discovering
these groups made our time away from music time well spent. In
2001, we began recording new original material that reflected
all we knew and loved about music, so far. Our new release, simply
titled “The Davis Brothers
Album” is a true collaboration. Because, each of
us brings an individual strength to every recorded song and our
dad is always there to help out when we’re unable to get
the sound we‘re looking for. Our goal now and for the future
is to produce music of substance and meaning that we hope sounds
as good in 50 years as we believe it does today. Thanks so much
for your interest in The Davis Brothers and our music, and thanks
again for visiting our website. We hope to see you soon! |
